The Benefits of Unscented Massage Oil

Many massage therapists have a personal preference for the type of oil they use in their day to day practice.

This preference might be based on the smell, the texture, how easily absorbed into the skin it it, or even how easily it will come out of the sheets in the wash!

Some treatments call for specific oils, particularly in spa and reflexology therapies were essential oils have a key role to play.

However, for many treatments, anything goes when it comes to the type of oil you use. Common choices include sweet almond oil, jojoba oil and grapeseed oil. Then of course there are specially formulated lotions and ointments made from a range of ingredients.

Unfortunately, it’s easy to run into problems with each of these options. 

They all have very distinct scents, and allergic reactions to nut oil, seed oils and particular fragrances are not uncommon. 

If any of your clients are very sensitive to smells, these oils and lotions will really hinder their treatment, rather than helping. The same is true if they have sensitive skin, allergies, or are affected by particular chemicals.
